Suffering induced hyper awareness (SIHA)
It seems to me that one of the blessings of being human is the capacity to be aware in a calm and active manner. Therefore it is always interesting to look at ways of achieving this state.
Of course there are ways of achieving it by purely mental methods. But for the most mortals it is easier to force it using the body as an entry-point. The body is, after all, for the most of us more under our control than our mind.
Try this:
- do not eat for upwards of 16 hours
- do 4 rounds of calisthenics exercises
- go for a run between 4 and 8 kilometres
- do 2 rounds of calisthenics exercises
wash off with cold water
sit in silence and observe what happens
To me, this (SIHA) is poetry of the flesh. It makes me grateful to be alive. To be in good health. To be here.
Take this feeling to the worst moments and watch them in dialogue.
